Event Type: HMHS Britannic in History

HMHS Britannic – A Casualty of War liner explores the short life of Titanic’s sister ship. These events took place during the short life of the Titanic’s sister ship, the HMHS Britannic. The HMHS Britannic lived a short life serving the British during WWI, during which she was struck by a mine and succumbed to her injuries despite valliant efforts to rescue the ship.

The HMHS Britannic, RMS Olympic and RMS Titanic were the Olympic Class of ships built by the White Star line. The HMHS Britannic was intended to be a far grander and opulent ship than either of her sisters, unfortunately the Britannic would never see a passenger journey. She was requisitioned for the war and stripped of her lavish fittings, turned into a hospital ship and doomed to her fate. HMHS Britannic – Casualty of war, a ship that would never see her destiny realized.

Much like the Titanic, the HMHS Britannic lives on today. You can read more about the fated liner on our website for further information on: conception, construction, requisition, war time use, sinking, and beyond into exploring the wreck of the great ship in the Kea Channel.

Titanic Connections is committed to keeping the memory of Titanic and her Sister Ships, the Britannic and Olympic, alive for future generations. We are committed to telling the tragic and ill-fated stories of these great liners, continuing to delve into history to bring you fresh and interesting content with new facts from history.
