Following the tidal wave of ‘Titanic Mania’ that swept the world following the 1997 release of the Fox/Paramount pictures film TITANIC, directed by James Cameron, a media sensation and public frenzy was created for any and all things Titanic. The expeditions to recover the Big Piece only fueled the public fascination and desire for Titanic and prompted a tourist agency to take multiple trips to the wreck. Returning to the site was the Akademik Keldysh and Mir Submersibles, since they’d been featured so prominently in the movie. For the cost of $32,500 dollars (29,113 Euro) several tourists were taken to the wreck with Titanic veteran diver & historian Ralph White conducting a few dives.
